Applying adjustments

There are a range of adjustments which can be applied to your design as a new layer for corrective or creative purposes.

Adjustment layer type
Curves adjustment layer (named 01) indicating it is an adjustment (A) and a Curves adjustment type (B).

Adjustments are applied from the Adjustments panel and most include customisable settings alongside general adjustment options. Once applied, they can be identified as both an adjustment and a specific adjustment type by using unique symbols.

Available adjustments:

Adjustment layers only affect layers which are below them. Alternatively, you can make an adjustment a child of a layer (or layer group), thereby affecting that layer (or layer group) only.

Some adjustments (i.e., Curves, Levels, or Channel Mixer) can be made in any colour space independently of the document colour space.

Settings

The following are available from all adjustment general settings:

To apply an adjustment:
  1. (Optional) Select a layer if you want the adjustment applied directly above the selected item.
  2. On the Adjustments panel, do one of the following:
    • For a custom adjustment: tap an adjustment from the list of thumbnails.
    • For a preset adjustment: tap the navigation arrows on the Type option (or tap directly on the option) to choose an adjustment preset thumbnail.
  3. Adjust the pop-up adjustment settings.

The adjustment is added directly above the selected layer, or at the top of the stack if no layer was selected.

To view an applied adjustment's settings:
Add Preset To save an adjustment to a custom preset:
  1. On the Layers panel, tap the adjustment layer's text to bring up its settings.
  2. Tap Add on the adjustment's settings.
  3. Name the preset, then tap OK.

The preset will be saved in the Adjustments panel along with other adjustments of that type.

To rename or delete a saved adjustment:
