Gradient Tool
The Gradient Tool applies a solid color or color gradient to an object's fill or stroke.

Although you can use the Gradient Tool to apply solid colors, its true power lies in its ability to apply and modify linear, elliptical, radial, and conical gradients.
You can also apply bitmap fills to objects, allowing you to add a bitmap image from an external source (like a pattern or texture) which can then be transformed on the object.
The following settings can be adjusted from the context toolbar:
Fill—When enabled, the gradient is applied to the object's fill.
Stroke—When enabled, the gradient is applied to the object's stroke.
Rotate gradient—rotates the applied gradient or bitmap anti-clockwise by 90°.
Reverse gradient—the applied gradient's end stops swap places. (All intermediate stops are also repositioned accordingly.)
Aspect—(Elliptical and Bitmap fill types only.) When enabled, the end stops are locked to maintain the aspect ratio, i.e. changing one will automatically update the other. When unselected, the end stops can be positioned independently, which changes the fill's aspect ratio.
Delete—deletes the selected stop from the applied gradient. If only end stops remain, deleting either stop will revert the fill to be solid.
