Transparency

Transparency can be applied in lots of ways in Affinity apps.

Here are the typical methods for its use.

Opacity is a term you'll see in Affinity apps—this is the opposite of transparency. An object with 0% transparency is fully opaque (100% opacity), while 100% transparency means the object is invisible (0% opacity).

Color panel To change the opacity of an object's stroke or fill:
  1. Select an object.
  2. From the Color panel, drag the Opacity slider.
Layers panel To change layer opacity:
  1. From the Layers panel, select a layer.
  2. Adjust the Opacity value.
Transparency Tool To apply a transparency gradient to an object:
  1. From the Designer Persona, select the Transparency Tool.
  2. Drag across your object to apply a transparency gradient.
  3. (Optional) Select an end stop and apply an Opacity value to it using the Color panel.
Layer Effects To apply layer effect opacity:
  1. From the Layer FX panel, adjust the Opacity slider (if available).
