Removing text styles

There are a few things to consider when detaching and deleting text styles. Do you want to:

Remove the text style from being applied to text or delete it entirely from the document.
Return styled text to the default settings or leave it as it is currently formatted.
Affect specific instances of text or all text within the document.
Do a combination of the above.

Each detachment or deletion method will have a different impact on the text and text styles in your document. Choose the method below based on the outcome you desire.

It's possible to detach and delete all text styles from your text, with the option of creating your own style set from scratch and making it the default for new publications.

To detach a text style from styled text and return text to default settings:

Select a portion of text or tap inside a paragraph.
Do one of the following:
- On the context toolbar, select [No Style] from a text style pop-up menu.
- On the Text panel, select the paragraph or character [No Style].

To detach a text style from styled text but leave text unaffected:

Select a portion of text or tap inside a paragraph.
On the Text panel Text Style section, tap a text style's options menu and select Detach Paragraphs From or Detach Characters From.

To remove manually applied local formatting but keep paragraph and character styles applied:

Tap inside a paragraph or select the specific text to affect.
On the Text panel, select Expand next to the Text Styles menu, then tap Reapply Styles and select Reapply Text Styles from the menu.

To remove manually applied local formatting and character styles but keep paragraph styles applied:

Tap inside a paragraph or select any text in all paragraphs to affect.
On the Text panel, select Expand next to the Text Styles menu, then tap Reapply Styles and select Reapply Base Styles from the menu.

To remove a text style from a document and return all styled text in the document to the default settings:

Select a portion of text or tap inside a paragraph.
On the Text panel, select Expand next to the Text Styles menu, then tap the text style's options menu and select Delete.

To remove all connected text styles from a document and return all styled text in the document to the default settings:

On the Text panel Text Styles section, tap a group or master text style's options menu and select Delete Group.

To remove all text styles from a document but leave text unaffected:

From Panel Preferences on the Text panel Text Styles section, select Detach and Delete All Styles.

To save a text style set as the default for new documents:

Create a blank document.
Edit your text styles to your liking.
From Panel Preferences on the Text panel's Text Styles section, select Save Styles as Default.
