Hyperlinking notes

To improve the reading experience of PDF publications, Affinity Publisher can automatically generate hyperlinks that connect references and note bodies to each other.

Hyperlinked note references allow the reader to jump from a reference in the main text to the corresponding note body, and then back again.

Default settings

Hyperlinks are not enabled for footnotes by default because the close proximity of their references and bodies tends to allow for easy cross-referencing.

Adding hyperlinks to footnotes may improve the reader's experience. For example, when:

To add hyperlinks to your document's footnotes:
  1. On the Notes panel, select Footnotes.
  2. Select Document-wide.
  3. On the panel's Format section, check Generate hyperlinks.
