Selecting and editing layers

Selecting and editing layers (and layer objects) are essential operations when working with multi-layered documents. Layers can also be renamed for easy identification or given a tag color to differentiate objects by whatever meaning you wish.

To select a layer:
Expand/Collapse To select a specific layer object:
  1. On the Layers panel, expand the layer to show its contents by clicking the layer's arrow.
  2. Double-click the layer object's thumbnail. The zoom will fit to display the chosen object.
To select multiple layers (or layer objects):
To rename a layer:

Do one of the following:

To rename layers sequentially:
  1. Select a layer in the stack and start renaming as described above.
  2. Use the and keyboard shortcuts to switch between layers.
  3. Enter a new layer name when ready.

The will take you to the layer lower down the stack, whereas switches to the layer higher up.

To change a layer's tag color:
To select all layers sharing the same name:
To select all layers sharing a tag color:
