Working with text

Text objects contain both character and paragraph elements, making it easy to modify standard text attributes such as font, size, format, and alignment. All text types have quick access settings on the built-in keyboard; you can also use the supporting Text Studio for more advanced options.

When performing text editing, Affinity Photo supports all standard text selection and formatting techniques.

To move the insertion point:

Place the input focus within a text frame or artistic text.
Hold one finger on the spacebar or two fingers anywhere on the on-screen keyboard.
When the key labels disappear, drag your finger around the keyboard.

To select text for formatting:

With the Move Tool selected, tap a text object to make formatting changes to all text; use the Text Studio to edit.
Double-tap a word to make formatting changes to just that word within the text object; use built-in keyboard or Text Studio to edit.
With either of the text tools selected, drag over text to make a selection that can be formatted; use built-in keyboard or Text Studio to edit.
Use the method described above to move the insertion point to the start of the text:
- Lift your fingers off the screen.
- Repeat the gesture. When the key labels disappear, hold your finger in place for a moment longer.
- Drag your finger around the keyboard.
With either of the text tools selected, tap a text object to make formatting changes to sections of text within the text object.
