About the Channels Studio

As well as being able to view an image's colour channels in isolation, you can edit any channel in isolation too. Selections can be made based on a chosen channel (e.g., Reds only) and different selections can be combined, subtracted or intersected for colour-based editing. The Studio also lets you store selections as spare channels for future retrieval.

As well as the channel information for the image and any currently selected layer, you'll also see the:

Current pixel selection.
Mask alpha*.
Adjustment layer alpha*.
Live filter layer alpha*.
Any stored selections (as spare channels) for future use.

* When selected in the Layers Studio.

By default, all colour channels are visible and editable.

Settings

The following options are displayed on the Channels Studio:

Reset—reverts the channel settings back to default.
Tap the pin icon in the top right of the Studio to hide the Studio automatically.
Channel thumbnail—displays the colour channel as a thumbnail.
Editable—protects/makes editable the channel.
Visible—hides/shows the channel.
Invert—inverts the pixel selection.
Delete—removes the saved spare channel from the document.

Additional options are available via the More button to allow you to:

Create selections from channels.
Add to, subtract from, and intersect channel with current selection.
Retrieve stored selections.
Load selections to current layer channel, mask, adjustment layer, or filter layer.
Create greyscale layers.
Create mask layers.
Invert selections, layer channels and masks.
Rename, edit and delete spare channels.
