Ruler and column guides

Guides are non-printing, non-exporting lines that 'float' over your page and assist with the positioning of layer content, especially when snapping is enabled. There are two types of guides to aid a variety of designs—ruler and column.

Guides

Document Menu To add a ruler guide:
  1. From the Document Menu, select Guides.
  2. On the context toolbar, tap Add Horizontal or Add Vertical to add a new guide at page centre, respectively.
  3. On the context toolbar, tap Show Guides to display the new guide.
  4. Drag the guide into position by eye or position precisely using the toolbar's Position setting.

Column guides

Column guides allow you to specify a number of evenly spaced columns and rows and are perfect for designing layouts such as web mockups.

To add a column guide:
  1. Access guides by tapping Document>Guides.
  2. From the context toolbar, switch on Show Column Guides. The Column Guides section of the toolbar allows you to manage the following:
    • Columns—defines the number of vertical guides that will appear.
    • Rows—defines the number of horizontal guides that will appear.
    • Gutter—defines the size of the gutter.
    • Style—select from Filled or Outline.
    • Colour—tap the colour swatch to select a colour for your column guides.
