About document templates
Affinity apps allow you to create (export) document templates, which typically contain placeholder content. Templates have a .aftemplate file extension.
When saving a template, a preferred set of defaults will be saved with it. Text attributes, object properties, stroke/fill color, guides, as well as grid setup, and more can be associated with a template.
To save a file as a template:
- From the Document menu, select Export As Template.
- A pop-up dialog will appear, prompting you to enter a name. Tap Save.
- On the dialog, choose a local or cloud location for your template.
To create an untitled document from an Affinity template (or any Affinity document):
Do one of the following:
From the Home screen, tap New, then on the pop-up menu, select New From Template. Select a template from Recents or browse to locate a template.- Drag and drop an .aftemplate file from the Files app onto anywhere on the Home screen.
