Guides are non-printing, non-exporting lines that 'float' over your page and assist with the positioning of objects, especially when snapping is enabled. There are two types of guides to aid a variety of designs—ruler and column.
To add a ruler guide:
From the Document Menu, select Guides.
On the context toolbar, tap Add Horizontal or Add Vertical to add a new guide at page centre, respectively.
On the context toolbar, tap Show Guides to display the new guide.
Drag the guide into position by eye or position precisely using the toolbar's Position setting.
To move a placed ruler guide:
Do one of the following:
Drag the guide with the Move Tool.
From the Document Menu, select Guides. Tap on the value for the guide you want to edit and enter a new value into the Position field. (Note that you do not need to type the units.)
To reposition the spread origin:
Activate guides by tapping Document>Guides.
From the context toolbar, adjust the Spread Origin X and Spread Origin Y settings.
To show or hide ruler guides:
From the context toolbar, disable Show Guides.
To lock all guides:
Activate guides by tapping Document>Guides.
On the context toolbar, tap Lock Guides.
To remove ruler guides:
From the Document Menu, select Guides.
Tap the guide you want to remove.
On the context toolbar, tap Delete.
Column guides
Column guides allow you to specify a number of evenly spaced columns and rows and are perfect for designing layouts such as web mockups.
To add a column guide:
Access guides by tapping Document>Guides.
From the context toolbar, switch on Show Column Guides. The Column Guides section of the toolbar allows you to manage the following:
Columns—defines the number of vertical guides that will appear.
Rows—defines the number of horizontal guides that will appear.
Gutter—defines the size of the gutter.
Style—select from Filled or Outline.
Colour—tap the colour swatch to select a colour for your column guides.
To show or hide column guides:
From the context toolbar, select Show Column Guides. The button will have a blue outline when the guides are visible.
To remove column guides:
From the context toolbar, reduce the number of Columns and Rows in the Column Guides section to 1.
