The tool offsets the object's original outline; the stroke moves with the newly offset outline but its width remains unchanged. The object's outline can be moved inwardly or outwardly (more typically) by dragging.
Settings
The following settings can be adjusted using a vertical tool slider:
- Radius—sets the radius of the contour, i.e. the distance that the object's outline will be offset.
- Miter—sets the limit to which the extension of miter joins will create either sharp or flat corners. Contour Type must be set to Miter.
The following settings can be adjusted from the context toolbar:
- Contour Type—alters the joins on an already contoured curve or shape's sharp nodes. Choose from Contour Round, Contour Miter or Contour Bevel.
- Contour Cap—set the cap ends to Cap None, Cap Round or Cap Square. Use on an already contoured curve's end nodes (not shapes).
- Contour Fill—set the shape's fill to Auto Closed, Force Open or Force Closed.
- Convert to Curves—converts the selected object into a series of connected lines and nodes.
