Using OpenColorIO

Affinity Designer implements OpenColorIO; a color management system that provides a full color-managed workflow. It is predominantly used for motion picture production but can be used for any situation where accurate end-to-end color management is required. All Affinity apps support both OCIO v1 and v2 color management configurations.

Setting up OpenColorIO

By default, the OpenColorIO features are not immediately usable. A config .ocio file is required alongside a number of supporting files such as lookup tables.

The OpenColorIO website (http://www.opencolorio.org) contains some sample configurations that provide a number of suitable input and output profiles, including several Academy Color (ACES) configurations.

Settings To configure OpenColorIO:
  1. Download your preferred configuration and decompress it into a folder.
  2. Rename the configuration file to config.ocio if it is not already named that.
  3. From the home screen, tap Settings and navigate to the Color section.
  4. Select Choose OCIO Package, then navigate to the folder where your config.ocio file is stored.
  5. Tap Open.

OpenColorIO will now be configured. Open any 32-bit document to preview additional viewing options.
